LAFAYETTE, CO – This summer when USA Rugby and principal partner EY began research into the organization, the overall goal was for USA Rugby to take an introspective audit and compare with feedback from an external market in order to develop a strategic roadmap for true growth of the game over the next 10 years. After a number of months featuring interviews, workshops and community feedback, EY and USA Rugby finalized new mission and values along with five areas of focus and the first phase of objectives to roll out over the first three years.

For Members and Fans with questions on the strategic deck, a live Q&A with CEO Ross Young, CFO and COO Eric Gleason and Commercial Director Mark Griffin will be available on the USA Rugby Facebook Page on Friday, November 8th at 11:00 AM MT.

“This strategic roadmap is the result of extensive input from USA Rugby Board Members with dedicated assistance from our partner EY,” noted USA Rugby Chair, Barbara O’Brien, “We are very pleased to have actionable objectives in front of us to begin this journey.”

“Creating this material has been a cornerstone of our work to fulfill the USA Rugby mission of growing the game. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this process.”

Through the programed research, USA Rugby established aligned Purpose, Vision, Values and Mission for the organization to stand behind and encourage the community to support and promote.

As communicated in July, representatives from EY consulted multiple individuals across the USA Rugby landscape to develop the areas of focus. The stakeholders interviewed included the USA Rugby Board of Directors, Leadership Team, four committee representatives and seven affiliate organizations. After a handful of workshops to follow, EY and USA Rugby developed five pillars of focus over the next 10 years.

With these five goals in mind, 54 strategic objectives and action items were established and placed into an estimated timeline over the next 10 years. Each objective placed in the timeline based on priority, existing and needed resources and market change. The first three-year phase includes 28 of the 54 objectives with a focus on initiatives USA Rugby can provide positive action on with current structure and resources. As each phase passes, USA Rugby will continuously evaluate as time, resources and market change over 10 years will require adaptation.

USA Rugby CEO Ross Young added, “It’s been an enlightening stretch of time since we started this journey and I want to whole-heartedly thank EY, Committee leaders, community representatives and Board of Directors for dedicating their time and feedback to this process. We continue encouraged with this framework and more so the people and partners this organization has in support.”
