Midwest Premiership:
The top team in the Midwest's East pool, the Chicago Lions, played a masterclass shutting their opponents, the Cincinnati Wolfhounds out, 88-0. Both Michael Houston and Brian Rooney, the Lions' inside center and fullback, scored hat tricks on the day.
The Detroit Tradesmen continued their successful return to Division I play, by beating Columbus Rugby, 41-17. Joe Bargerstock crossed twice on the day for the Tradesmen.
The St. Louis Bombers suffered their second loss of the season, as they fell to the Kansas City Blues, 17-10. The Bombers, by the end of the match, were down three men but showed tremendous resiliency to score late and secure the losing bonus point.
Metropolis travelled from Minnesota to Wisconsin on Saturday to take on the Milwaukee Barbarians. In what would turn out to be a lopsided game, Metropolis came away with their perfect season intact, 55-10.
Women's Division I:
It was as close as they come, when Wisconsin Rugby hosted Chicago Rugby over the weekend. Chicago held on for the narrow victory, 29-28. During the game, there was a total of five lead changes.
Men's Division II:
Midwest:
Metropolis D2 followed the lead of the first division squad and scored a decisive win over the Green Bay Celtics, 43-3.
Wisconsin Rugby proved to be just too strong for the Chicago Lions D2 side as they edged them out in a physical encounter, 45-34.
Indianapolis Impalas were able to win an arm wrestle of a match against the Chicago Blaze, 43-31. In a great all-round team display, they had seven different players score tries.
Great Lakes:
Buffalo played it tight agains the Rochester Aardvarks, ultimately prevailing, 20-14. In another close match, the Cleveland Crusaders beat the Pittsburg Forge 32-31. Formerly winless South Buffalo defeated the Chargers, 45-25, for their first win of the year.
Women's Division II:
East Gold:
Buffalo rugby took on their crosstown rival, the North Buffalo Ninjas, and were victorious, 38-17. Trisha John, crossing for two tries on the day.
West Green:
Grand Rapids Rugby, as they have been all year, were too strong for their opposition. Their victims this week were the Fox Valley Vixens, who fell 67-12. One game remains for each team on the season.
West Gold:
In a high scoring tug of war, it was the Minneapolis Menagerie that had the greater pull beating the Will County Morrigans, 42-40. Anna Grimes, the Menagerie's inside center, was instrumental in the win, scoring four tries.
The Chicago Lions put a halt to the Milwaukee Scylla four game winning streak over the weekend as they claimed a 46-17 victory. With their victory, they move to 4-0-1 on the year and sit atop of the table, having played one less game than their closest competitors.
Men's Division III:
Chicago Area:
Despite, playing away from home, the Fox Valley Maoris were able to claim their 7th win of the season against the Lake County Gladiators, 44-10. This helps the Maoris continue to distance themselves from their competition and keeps the dreams of a perfect season alive.
The Northwest Woodsmen, are doing their best to keep up with the Maoris, as they beat the Chicago Riot to advance to 5-1-1 on the season. The Chicago area pool is proving to be one of the most competitive competitions in the country.
The Illiana Misfits improved to 5-1-1 on the year after a strong and well-earned victory over Lincoln Park Rugby D3, 26-20.
East:
The Cleveland Crusaders D3 played a tense affair against the Canton Maddogs. With their win, the Crusaders move to 5-1 on the season and are atop the Ohio Pool. For the first 50 minutes the two teams went back and forth, with the Maddogs scoring and the Crusaders replying. After 55 minutes, the Crusaders held a slim lead of 14-12. The Crusaders would then score eight unanswered points in a fifteen-minute span, to take a commanding 22-12 lead. The Maddogs attempted to stage a late comeback, but ultimately feel short, 22-19.
Iowa:
The Iowa City Ducks never had a doubt in their mind about the outcome of Saturday's game as they blew passed the Northeast Iowa Barbarians, 88-7.
The Bremer County Bucks remain untouchable in the Iowa pool, as they earned a tough win against a resilient Omaha Goats squad, 39-27.
Minnesota:
The visiting St. Paul Jazz Pigs came out as big victors in their game against the Eastside Banshees D3 side, 42-20.
It was a Back and forth affair between the top two teams in the Minnesota pool of the Midwest's Men's Division III competition. Eventually it was the St. Cloud Bottom Feeders that got one over on the Mankato Marauders, 29-19. The Bottom Feeders are now 6-0 on the season.
North:
The Detroit Tradesmen D3 made light work of Michigan Rugby, taking them down by a convincing, 55-12, margin of victory.
Traverse Bay Blues were able to get their 5th win of the season in a critical match against the Flint Rogues, 34-8. As a result of winning this game the Blues are now the regular season champions of the Midwest Men's Division III North: Northern Pool.
Fort Wayne Rugby were happy with their performance over the weekend. They handled the Kalamazoo dogs with ease, 55-12.
South:
Queen City Rugby out muscled the Cincinnati Kelts over the weekend. Poor tackling was the difference on the day. Queen City now has two wins on the year, and the Kelts are left with one.
Wisconsin:
Fox Cities Gargoyles fell to 2-3 on the season after hard fought loss to the Wisconsin Sharks, 38-27. Jacob Vaughan scored two tries in the losing effort.
Oconomowoc Rugby moved to 3-2 on the year, after an emphatic win over the Milwaukee Barbarians D3 side, 84-17.
Milwaukee Rugby put on a dominant display against Fond du Lac Wolfpac, shutting them out to the tune of an 86-0 score line.
Division IV:
Central:
Chicago Riot D4 saw out a tight victory over Crashlander Rugby, 26-25. The win was the first of the year for the Riot.
Chicago Blaze D4 remain undefeated on the season as they beat, at the time, another undefeated side, the Indianapolis Impalas D4, 28-10.
Iowa:
It was a dominant return to play for the Iowa Falls Rugby Club, when they beat River City 55-14. Jacob Mello was the star of the day as he crossed for three tries during the match.
