- USA Eagle Alum Kevin Swiryn elected to the USA Rugby Board of Directors as one of two International Athletes, Phaidra Knight re-elected to the same role.
- Vote comes as both Todd Clever and Knight’s two-year terms close, nominated by all USA Rugby International Athletes (IA) and elected by 10 IAs on USA Rugby Congress.

LAFAYETTE, CO – Every two years, the nine-member USA Rugby Board of Directors re-opens nominations for two International Athletes to be seated on the leadership group. This year, terms for Todd Clever and Phaidra Knight came to an end where nominations from current USA Rugby International Athletes (IA) and votes from the 10 IA on USA Rugby Congress elected Kevin Swiryn and re-elected Phaidra Knight to the next two-year term. Both Knight and Swiryn will serve on the board through 2021.
A 33-cap Eagle Alum and World Rugby Hall of Fame Inductee, Phaidra Knight remains on the Board of Directors where she has been seated since 2017. Knight will continue to focus her attention with Julie Lau and Charlotte Garbisch of USA Rugby on the upcoming Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
Kevin Swiryn will join the Board while also working with Todd Clever through a transitional period until he is fully seated at the next meeting in December. As a former sevens player with USA Rugby from 2008-2012, and again in 2015-2016 ahead of the Rio Olympic Games, Swiryn supplies the required balance between 15s and 7s representation on the International Athlete council. Currently a Vice President with insurance and consulting firm USI, Swiryn competed in the 2009 Rugby World Cup Sevens and 2011 Rugby World Cup. Collecting 15 World Rugby Sevens Series tournaments and 13 caps with the Men’s Eagles.
