CHULA VISTA, CA – With USA Women’s Sevens and the 2020 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series staged to begin in Glendale this weekend, Warren Abrahams is set to debut with the USA squad as the newly appointed Assistant Coach. Abrahams joins Head Coach Chris Brown with nearly 10 years’ experience coaching at the international level. Working across multiple levels of coaching, from Academy’s to Senior National Teams, Abrahams brings a quality development mentality to a squad looking to stride through the home stretch toward Tokyo 2020.

"Warren comes to us with a strong reputation for challenging and enhancing learning environments,” noted Head Coach, Chris Brown, “We recognize that no matter what we achieved last season we have to continue growing and winning the daily battles.”

Abraham’s resume spans a collection of coaching settings in both sevens and XVs, most notably with England Rugby (RFU), Harlequins and recently as a consultant to the German Rugby Union (DRV). Last year, in San Francisco for the Rugby World Cup Sevens, Abraham’s England squad finished in silver medal position.

Brown continued, “For this program, gaining a resource of Warren’s quality 11 months before the Olympic games is invaluable and will have a significant impact on our further progression.'

Abrahams added, “I'm humbled and excited by the opportunity to work with USA Rugby and support a group of incredible women on their learning journey. I have no doubt my delivery style will challenge players individual capabilities but most importantly I want to help them see the world differently. I am looking forward to adding value to USA Rugby, from the community game to the elite level.'

Brown, Abrahams and the USA Women’s Sevens officially kick off the 2020 season this weekend in Glendale for the first stop of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series. Follow @usarugby for live updates and watch LIVE on NBC Sports Gold.
