GLENDALE, CO - World Rugby is currently in a consulting phase around the Transgender Athlete Policy where they have asked USA Rugby and other unions to provide feedback for continued evaluation. To ensure USA Rugby responds with information fully representative of the USA Rugby rugby community; the USA Rugby Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee are surveying membership stakeholders and those within the transgender community to support in shaping this response. These stakeholders include representatives of Youth and High School State Governing Bodies, College Conference Commissioners, Senior Club Geographic Unions and LROs, and lastly the International Athlete Council.
USA Rugby looks forward to offering fully representative feedback as further evaluations proceed. Rugby has prided itself as a sport for all, where USA Rugby celebrates the differences that make its members unique and is proud to serve a diverse community of players, coaches, officials and fans.
Additionally, USA Rugby is seeking testimonials from transgender athletes in the rugby community to include in the process. If transgender athletes within the rugby community are willing to share their knowledge and experiences, please contact the USA Rugby Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, diversity@usa.rugby. Along with the union survey results, all information shared will be respected and kept confidential or anonymous if requested.
