Hosted and supported by Life University Women’s Rugby, USA Rugby and Rugby Canada recently partnered to bring nearly 50 attendees to the Marietta campus for a training and education summit geared towards growing the network and reach of World Rugby Educators, so both unions have more certified instructors to deliver Level 1 Coaching and Refereeing courses across North America.

With further support from Rugby Americas North, both USA Rugby and Rugby Canada were additionally able to train new World Rugby Trainers and Master Trainers across the four-day event. These are roles that help support the new and existing Educator workforce and will facilitate better educational outcomes in courses at all levels across North America.

“Running this event with Rugby Canada provided us with a great opportunity to share and exchange ideas and rugby education methodologies,” said USA Rugby Director of Training & Education, Jamie McGregor, “Which ultimately will benefit our cadre of new Educators enormously as they step out into the USA Rugby community to deliver coaching and refereeing courses to our members.”

The new World Rugby Educators were put through the paces of course training on Sunday of the weekend, when Level 1 courses were hosted for new rugby coaches and match officials.

McGregor concluded, “My thanks to Ryszard Chadwick and Life University for hosting us, to Scott Harland and Rugby Americas North for supporting this activity, and to Jackie and her T&E team from Rugby Canada, whose contributions added immeasurably to the experience for our participants.”
