USA Rugby has learned that USA Women's Eagle and Olympic hopeful Jillion Potter has been diagnosed with Stage III Synovial Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer. She has had surgery to remove the tumor, and will undergo aggressive chemotherapy over the next several months.
Potter came back from a broken neck in 2010 to play in the 2013 7s World Cup in Moscow, and in the 2014 Women's Rugby World Cup in Paris this summer. She has shown tremendous strength and perseverance in the face of medical hardship, and we know this won't be an exception.
While Jillion does have health insurance, her out-of-pocket expenses for treatment are expected to reach over $16,000. You may join the USA Rugby community in showing support for Jillion and her family during this difficult time. Donate to help her cover medical expenses. Read the USA Rugby press release here.
