The American rugby family lost a young All-Star today. University of Texas standout, Stephanie Flores, passed away this morning after several days in intensive care. The thoughts and prayers of all of USA Rugby, the American rugby community, and rugby players everywhere are with the Flores family during this extremely difficult time.
According to a press release, Flores was injured "during the regular course of play…a straight on tackle caused Stephanie Flores' head to come into contact with the ground.'
Flores was taken to the hospital in an ambulance in Kansas City where the game was being played and was immediately taken into the intensive care unit.
Flores was a member of the Texas Rugby Union Collegiate All-Star Team and was the captain of the University of Texas Women's Rugby team.

It is with a sad heart that the Texas Rugby Union received word this evening that Ms. Flores has succumbed to the injuries suffered during her rugby match on Sunday.
Stephanie passed at approximately 530 CDT in Kansas City.
On behalf of the Union, University of Texas Womens Rugby Club, her Coaches, Teammates and Friends we send our deepest sympathies to her Parents, family members and loved ones.
