CHULA VISTA, CA. - Following the conclusion of training for the 2018 Kitakyushu Sevens tournament, Women's Sevens Head Coach Richie Walker confirms injuries and provides an update for Kelsi Stockert and Natalie Kosko.
Stockert, who last competed during the Falcons' exhibition series with the Aussie Pearls in Las Vegas, sustained an MCL injury during scrimmages last week. Now focused on recovery, Stockert's availability for the remainder of the season will be evaluated within the next several weeks.
"The injury and timing isn't ideal but I'm focused on the positives - no surgery,' says Stockert. "Thanks to the staff, my teammates and of course my support system at home, recovery has been full of encouragement. We're determined, focused and ready to get me back on the pitch.'
Along with Stockert, Natalie Kosko was also hurt during camps. With a knee injury sustained during warm-ups, Kosko will miss the rest of the 2017-18 season but may be available for selection later this fall when the 2018-19 HSBC Series begins.
The Women's Eagles Sevens currently sit in 5th place in the 2017-18 HSBC World Sevens Series. Head Coach Richie Walker and his named 12 will travel to Japan for the 2018 Kitakyushu Sevens tournament set to run April 20-22 (based on Eastern time).
