Women’s Division I:
Women’s Division I play for the Spring kicked off, with a close affair between crosstown rivals, the Glendale Merlins D1 and Black Ice. It was a close affair with a late penalty goal from Hannah Tennant helping the Merlins over the line to a 31-27 victory.
Men’s Division II:
In the Rocky Mountain Premiership, Boulder Rugby started their Spring campaign with an emphatic victory over the Denver Harlequins, 67-0. Eight different players crossed the line for Boulder. The other game saw the Barbarians look like the national championship side from last year, as they downed the Denver Highlanders, 49-12.
Women’s Division II:
The Queen City Chaos bounced back after a tough loss last weekend to beat the Wichita Valkyries this weekend, 31-26. JJ Cedeño and Jordyn Dunacusky both scored doubles in the win.
Men’s Division III:
In the Rocky Mountain Men’s Championship, the Colorado Springs Grizzlies got a big win against second placed, Northern Colorado Flamingos, 55-36. Devon McIntosh and Frank Griffin both scored hattricks in the winning effort.
In Mid-America action, Sunday morning a 28-point scoring streak for Sunday Morning Rugby helped them establish a healthy lead against the Columbia Outlaws. Despite a late comeback attempt it was too late and Sunday Morning are now neck and neck with Springfield Rugby at the top of the ladder. Springfield Rugby, themselves, had an impressive showing beating Mercenaries Rugby 44-7. Rounding out the action, the St. Lois Ramblers were too much for their intercity rivals, the St. Louis Hornets, 39-12.
Men’s Division IV:
It was a tight one between the Queen City Rams D4 and the Colorado Rush, but the Rams prevailed, 40-38. The Rush stormed home inside the final three minutes, scoring 19 points, but they had left themselves with too much work to do and not enough time.
