HOUSTON - High school and middle school football coaches located near Houston - the site of the first Americas Rugby Championship match featuring the United States and Argentina - are invited to attend an informational session on rugby techniques, USA Rugby announced Monday.
In a half-hour space prior to kickoff at BBVA Compass Stadium Saturday, Feb. 6, USA Rugby and Rugby Texas representatives will provide an overview of the laws and strategies of the game of rugby, specifically delving into the tackling aspects. Furthering the partnership that began in Indiana last fall, USA Rugby intends to help educate those in the sport of football on more efficient and safer ways to tackle in contact sports.
Attend the informational session on rugby techniques
Coaches in attendance at BBVA Compass Stadium Saturday will be briefed on USA Rugby's Level 150 Coaching Course, which focuses on introducing the contact elements of rugby. The course also aims to develop basic technical knowledge that can be used to build safe and effective skills, especially when working with youth athletes.
Each coach to attend the informational session will be given two tickets to the inaugural Americas Rugby Championship match, which kicks off at 7 p.m. CT. To register for the clinic, fill out the linked form, and send any questions to USA Rugby Youth Programs Manager Mike Lovinguth (mlovinguth@usa.rugby).
