Frontier Recap: Playoff Berths Secured

Men’s Division II:

The Arkansas Gryphons continue to hold on tightly to their lead atop the Mid-America Division II South competition, as they were able to land a 40-14 victory over Tulsa Rugby.  With the win it sets up a top of the table clash with Little Rock Stormers. The Stormers were able to claim a 62-17 win over the Oklahoma City Crusaders over the weekend. Ronnie Parkinson scoring 16 points for the Stormers in their win.

In the Rocky Mountain Premiership, the Denver Barbarians kept their postseason hopes alive with a strong win against the top of the ladder, Park City Haggis, 37-24. The Haggis rebounded quickly to beat the Denver Harlequins the following day, 67-20.

 

Women’s Division II:

The Wichita Valkyries braved freezing temperatures to see off the Kansas Bison, 24-15. Standout performances came from, Avemoae Liaiga, Paschal Paschal, Laura Sanchez and Laura Holdeman.

 

Men’s Division III:

A busy weekend in Men’s Division III play saw some big results come out of the Mid-America competition. Sunday Morning Rugby secured first place in the competition with their 36-9 effort against the St. Louis Royals. Springfield Rugby overcame the snow, wet and cold to secure the second spot in the standings and a playoff berth, after beating the Columbia Outlaws, 14-6. Springfield will host the Outlaws in the semifinals in two weeks. The final game in the competition saw the St. Louis Ramblers take down Mercenary rugby, comfortably, 44-7.  

In the Rocky Mountain Men’s Championship, the Laramie Lumberjacks were able to close in on the Queen City Rams’ lead over the competition, when they beat the Colorado Springs Grizzlies, 43-37.

 

Men’s Division IV:

Marauders Rugby earned a hard fought victory against the Colorado Springs Grizzlies, 28-24. The Marauders opened up the game to a 15-0 lead, before
